UNL Presents "Coffee with a Forester"

Details: Brown or discolored leaves and needles have many western Nebraska residents concerned about the health of their trees, and they want guidance from a trained professional. That’s why the UNL Extension of Kimball-Banner Counties is sponsoring a “Coffee with a Forester” workshop on Sept. 18 from 10:00 a.m. to noon to help residents understand what is happening to the trees in their back yards and in their community. The workshop will feature Nebraska Forest Service Western Forest Health Assistant Rachel Allison, who will discuss how to observe changes in trees and review possible insect and disease problems. It will be held at the Extension Office, 209 East Third in Kimball.

The field is 3 miles south and a one half mile west of Kimball's only stoplight!. The event will feature planes & pilots from Colorado, Nebraska & Wyoming. All R/C pilots are invited to participate. No entry fees, no prizes, just a great day to fly. Pilots Check in at 8:00 AM.  Planes take to the sky at 10:00AM.  Flights continue until late afternoon. Planes will be in flight and on display for spectators to enjoy. The event is open to the public free of charge. Everyone is welcome to attend, limited on site seating, so bring your lawn chair and enthusiasm!

Potter Duckpin Bowling Alley

Details: You can rent the alley at $50 for a 4 hour period.  Morning, afternoon, or evening timeslots.  There is even black light bowling available.
      "Duckpin bowling was invented in 1900 in Baltimore, MD. The name comes from the resemblance of the wildly-flying little pins to a flock of flying ducks”
      This is a project that has been going on for many years and has come together through the help of many volunteers, and organizations both civil and school . All the funds raised from renting the space are used in the restoration and maintenance of the bowling alley, bathrooms, and adjoining party room. It is owned by the Potter Historical Foundation.
