June 30-July 3 - Day Camp in Dalton
The "On the Edge Day Camp" is being held June 30 through July 3 at the Dalton Presbyterian Church in Dalton, Nebraska. It's for preschoolers through third graders and will last from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. All children in the Dalton and Gurley areas are invited. Staff from the Highlands Camp in Estes Park, CO will be conducting the camp. Pre-registration is not required.
July 4 - Lodgepole Celebration
Lodgepole's annual 4th of July celebration is being held on Friday the 4th, at Kasten's Ball Field. A potluck dinner is being served at 6:30 p.m. Please bring one meat dish, one other dish and your own table service. Drinks will be provided. Fireworks at dusk. Cash donations can be left at the Panther's Dan. Celebration is sponsored by VISIONS.
July 4 - Sunol Community Dinner
The Sunol Community is having its 4th of July Community Dinner at 6:00 p.m. on July 4th. Please bring a side dish and fireworks to share.
July 4 - Firing of the Anvil in Sidney!
Sidney's annual July 4th celebration includes the firing of the anvil event beginning at 6:30 Friday morning with free coffee and donuts at Legion Field provided by the Cheyenne County Visitors Committee, VFW, and Legion Auxilliaries. The flag raising is at 6:45 a.m. and the Firing of the anvil will be at 7:00 a.m.
July 4 - Independence Day Celebration in Dix
The Dix Bible Church is hosting an Independence Day celebration on July 4th! It will begin at 3:30 with plently of games, softball, food and fireworks to enjoy. Cost to get in: bring a salad or something to grill and the rest is taken care of! For more information contact 308-682-5325.
July 4 - Cheyenne County Ladies Chamber Ice Cream Social
The Cheyenne County Ladies Chamber is hosting a 4th of Juoly Ice Cream Social at 4:00 p.m. at memorial gardens in Sidney's Legion Park. The event will go until at least 8:30 p.m. Bring the family, a picnic, and enjoy some live entertainment. For more information contact 254-5530 or 250-5454.
July 8 - New Residents Informational Meeting
On July 8th UNL-Extension is hosting a meeting to share results of a recent survey on new residents in Western Nebraska. The meeting is being held at the 21st Century Equipment Conference Room in Sidney at Noon. RSVP by July 3 and learn more by calling the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce at 308-254-5851. Cost is $10.00 for lunch.
July 8 - Hats Galore Dinner Party
The community is invited to the "Hats Galore" dinner party on July 8th at the Lodgepole Valley Youth Camp in Sidney. Cost is $10 inclusive and the event will run from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Judy Scarbrough will share her unique and fun hat collection, Cathy Patenode of Spearfish, SD will speak on "Measuring Up when the Standards Keep Changing," and the Sweet Madison Couch group will share songs. July 10 - Compassionate Friends Meeting
A meeting of the Compassionate Friends Sidney Chapter will be held on July 10, 5:30 p.m., at First National Bank on Glover Road. For more information call 308-254-4450 or 254-6354.
July 10 - New Resident Informational Meeting
UNL-Extension is hosting a meeting in Kimball at the event center on July 10th to share results of a study about the new residents in Western Nebraska. If you'd like to attend, reserve your spot by calling 308-235-3782 by July 7. The event begins at 7:00 a.m.
July 11 - Sidney Great American Campout
On July 11th the Sidney Great American Campout will be held at the Lodgepole Valley Youth Camp in Sidney! Tent set-up begins at 5:30 and plenty of good food, games, crafts, raffles, songs and stories will be part of the entertainment. The summer musical "Disney Delight" will be performed. Enjoy a pancake breakfast the next morning. The event is sponsored by Kids Plus in Cheyenne County. July 11 - WOW Hammie Awards
On July 11 Way Out West Community Theatre in Sidney will have its 11th Annual Hammie Awards event. It's at the Holiday Inn at 6:00 p.m. RSVP to Todd Nienhueser by calling 308-254-5732.
July 12 - Chamber Golf Fun Night!
On July 12th the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce will host is annual Chamber Golf Tournament. This year's format is a little different...The daytime nine holes begin at 4:30 in the afternoon, the nighttime nine holes begin at approximately 8:00 p.m. and a dinner and social will be held in between! Come out and enjoy some glow-in-the-dark golf to benefit the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce. Cost is $50 and includes 18 holes of golf, dinner and the social event. July 12 & 13 - Andy Shaw Memorial Co-Ed Softball Tournament
This event is being held on July 12 at the Kimball baseball fields as a benefit towards traveling cancer patients in the Kimball community. Details: entree fee is $150 per team, 10 players per team limit, double-elimination format, trophies for the top three finishers, raffle tickets available at select Kimball businesses. July 13-17: St. Paul's Lutheran Church Camp
St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sidney is hosting a vacation bible school camp from July 13 through 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the St. Paul's Education Building in Sidney. July 17-18 - Junior Lady Raider Volleyball Camp

July 26 - Drew Stiles Benefit Bowling Tournament
The Sidney Jaycess have stepped up to help out a community member again! The Jaycees are hosting a bowling tournament in Sidney on July 26th starting at 10:00 a.m. Proceeds will benefit Drew Stiles and her family. Drew was injured in a farm accident near Sterling, Colorado and she's recovering at Children's Hospital in Denver. More details will be posted as they become available.
July 26 - Spaghetti Feed to Benefit Drew Stiles
Plans are underway for a spaghetti feed to benefit Drew Stiles. The Methodist Church in Sidney will be hosting the feed and additional details will be posted when available.
July 26 - I-80 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Potter
The first I-80 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Potter will be held on July 26 to benefit the Potter Basketball program. Entry fee is $40.00 per team, with a maximum of four players per team. The tournament will be held in downtown Potter in front of the Village Office and Post Office with games beginning at 9:00 a.m. There are several age groups and entries are due by July 18. July 29 - Career Camp
The Nebraska Panhandle Area Health Education Center will hold a Career Camp for elementary students on July 29 at West Elementary School in Sidney. Lunch is provided. A $20 registration fee will be collected at the door, but you must register by July 11 by emailing conrad@np-ahec.org or by calling 635-6711. If you have questions contact Mr. Conrad at 308-635-6712.
